Applies to: myViewBoard 3.0 for Windows
Issue
myViewBoard 3.0 cannot be installed on a Windows device — the installer does not open, the installation stops before completion, or Windows shows an installation-related error.
What to try first
Work through these steps in order:
Make sure you are using the latest installer from the official myViewBoard download page.
Confirm whether the device is a personal device or a school-managed device. If your school manages the device, check with IT before installing manually.
Note the installer type you're using: EXE, MSI, MSIX, or Microsoft Store.
If you see an App Installer or Windows Update related error (for example, error code 0x80070422), this usually means the Windows Update service is disabled or restricted, which is common in school or enterprise environments. Try the MSI installer instead, since it does not rely on Windows Update.
If App Installer itself is missing or not working (more common on older Windows 10 builds), use the full installation package that bundles App Installer, or repair App Installer manually.
For mass deployment to school-managed devices, use the MSI installer with a deployment tool such as GPO or Microsoft Intune rather than installing manually on each device.
Additional notes
Some additional points that may be useful:
Installation behavior may differ depending on installer type, Windows policy, and whether the device is managed by a school or organization.
MSI installs myViewBoard at the system level by default, while EXE (App Installer) installs it at the user profile level.
Single-user installation does not require Admin rights. System-wide or mass deployment usually does.
Avoid installing multiple package types (EXE, MSI, Microsoft Store) on the same device unless IT specifically requires it, since this can result in duplicate app entries.
If the issue continues
Submit a support ticket if the installation still fails after using the latest installer and following the relevant steps above.
