Applies to: myViewBoard 3.0
Use the EXE installer for a single personal device. Use the MSI installer for IT-managed deployment. It supports Entity enrollment via the ORGANIZATION parameter.
Default installer changed in October 2025
The All-User MSI installer is the default download on the official myViewBoard site. It installs system-wide, requires administrator permissions, and targets all users on the device. The per-user EXE installer remains available for individual and special-case installs.
Installer comparison
| Installer | Scope | Admin rights | Entity enrollment | Updates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All-User MSI | System-wide | Required | Yes, via ORGANIZATION parameter | Managed by IT deployment process |
| EXE (per-user) | Per user profile | Not required | Not supported | Automatic, within ~8 hours of release |
| Microsoft Store | Per device (Store-managed) | Standard Store permissions | Not supported | Managed by Microsoft Store |
MSI is required for Entity enrollment
Only MSI installs support Entity enrollment (ORGANIZATION parameter). EXE installs are not recognized by myViewBoard Manager or Insights and cannot be managed remotely. Use MSI for any device that requires Entity-level management, regardless of deployment scale.
Don't install the Microsoft Store version alongside EXE or MSI
The Microsoft Store version is a separate package from EXE/MSI. Installing it alongside either version results in duplicate app entries, so don't run both on the same device.
