Why Is Incognito Mode Not Allowed?
Using "Incognito Mode" in Safari or other browsers can cause the following issues:
Login status cannot be saved, requiring repeated logins.
Course records, answer entries, and assignment data may not be saved.
Errors or anomalies may occur when joining a class.
To ensure a smooth learning experience, please make sure to turn off incognito mode and use regular browsing mode.
How to Tell If a Student Is Using Incognito Mode
ClassSwift will automatically detect if a student uses incognito mode to join a class. If you see an exclamation mark (!) next to a student’s seat number in the student management page, it means the student is using incognito mode.
Please refer to the following instructions to identify incognito mode based on different devices:
Tablet Devices
Apple Devices (iPad / iPhone):
1. Open Safari and tap the tab switch icon in the bottom-right (two overlapping squares).
2. Check the label at the top:
"Private" = Incognito Mode
"n Tabs" = Regular Mode
Other Brand Tablets (Samsung, Lenovo, etc. Android Devices):
If using Chrome or another browser:
Dark theme page with incognito icon (hat + glasses) = Incognito Mode
White background with no special icon = Regular Mode
Computer Devices
macOS (Apple Computers):
In Safari, incognito windows are usually dark gray.
Click “File” in the top-left menu:
If it says "New Private Window", it’s incognito mode.
Close this window and select "New Window" to switch to regular mode.
Non-macOS (Windows / Chromebook, etc.):
In Chrome or other browsers:
Dark theme + incognito icon (hat + glasses) = Incognito Mode
White background with no icon = Regular Mode
Student will see 'Incogninto Warnings' in the following pages:
1. Under the “Quick Join” option: A warning appears stating: "You are currently using incognito mode. Continuing as a guest may result in data loss. Please open a new browser to join the class."
2. If students don’t exit incognito mode: A warning will show at the top right of the page, stating: "You are currently using incognito mode. Continuing as a guest may result in data loss. You can close all incognito windows and then rejoin the class."
3. If a student still joins via incognito mode:
A persistent reminder will stay at the top right during class.
Tap the screen once to dismiss the reminder.
